Description Phil (reporter) 2010-04-19 23:17:09 UTC
It's clear that a noticeable battery life improvement can be obtained by being
conservative about the auto update frequency of modest.

I believe further improvements can be gained by implementing a time sensitive
auto update toggle that disables the auto update functionality when it is
unnecessary. The middle of the night is a good example.

This also serves to avoid a phone not placed in silent, disturbing a sleeper
and is certainly a feature I would appreciate and have investigated hacking
into a fcron/alarmd call to "gconftool --type bool --set
/apps/modest/auto_update true/false".

The scope of bugs.maemo.org are bugs and only very specific and no-brainer
enhancement requests. This report contains a feature request that is too
generic for bugs.maemo.org. Please post this problem and propose your
solution in Maemo Brainstorm instead:
