Description Claudio Saavedra (reporter) 2010-04-19 15:04:09 UTC
mafw-lastfm needs to work behind a proxy.

This is a heads up for anyone interested. I have added the code necessary to
support proxies to a branch named "proxy-support" in gitorious.

Proxy support is ussing libconic for 1) knowing when there has been a change in
the network being used and 2) retrieve the proxy settings.

At the moment I've only added support for manually set proxies. The reason for
this is that, as you can imagine, I am not behind a proxy and don't have time
to toy with one. I simply tested this by setting a fake manual proxy in my
dummy network and seeing that it chokes (naturally, since it's fake).

So, this is a plea for anyone interested on this to test whether it actually
works ok. If manual proxies work fine we can start looking into polishing
details before merging this into master.

The code itself is a bit more complicated than it should, but this is due to a
bug I found in libsoup that hadn't been fixed yet (bgo 618641). In any case,
the code is quite simple and anyone more familiar with conic is welcome to have
a look at it.

I would love to try it out but we just implemented transparent proxy here.
(Even though using the proxy configuration still works, just that its no longer
needed anymore to for internet awared apps to connect to the web from our
network) I would test the package and get back to you. btw can you link me with
the "gitorious" page where I can download the proxy branch?

The branch is "proxy-support".
