SOFTWARE VERSION: 3.2010.02-8 EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM: 1. Plug in official Nokia headset (with microphone) 2. Make a phone call (or a Skype one, doesn't matter) 3. Use the headset and use the N900 while on the call. EXPECTED OUTCOME: Proximity sensor is disabled since the device's screen doesn't need to be turned off during a call. ACTUAL OUTCOME: Proximity sensor is active and disables screen when touched. REPRODUCIBILITY: always EXTRA SOFTWARE INSTALLED: Doesn't matter, happens on clean device. OTHER COMMENTS: The proximity sensor should be disabled when using headphones since the user doesn't actually have to bring the phone close to his head, and it interferes with multitasking while on the call. User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.8) Gecko/20100214 Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Firefox/3.5.8
I can confirm this.
So if I got the internal ticket int-109779 correctly (way too many comments to read all of it), the proximity sensor should be disabled when in landscape mode. I assume your in portrait call mode when this happens? If so, the current behaviour seems to be intentional...
Both portrait and landscape, outside the Phone application.
