Description John Veness (reporter) 2010-03-27 00:53:17 UTC
When using the search box on the Downloads page, if there is only one hit, it
would be nice if the full application entry for that search term was shown
rather than a search results page with one entry. For example, if I search for
conboy and click Go, it would be nice to end up on
http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/conboy/ rather than
http://maemo.org/downloads/search/application.html?org_openpsa_products_search[1][property]=title&org_openpsa_products_search[1][constraint]=LIKE&org_openpsa_products_search[1][value]=conboy&org_openpsa_products_search[2][property]=os&org_openpsa_products_search[2][constraint]=LIKE&org_openpsa_products_search[2][value]=Maemo5&fetch=Search

Ending up on http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/conboy/ is preferable,
as that way the user can see the comments and so on.

Please note that if this is implemented, that I would not like to see a problem
like that listed on Bug 9423. That is, if I searched for omweather, I would
want to see the results
http://maemo.org/downloads/search/application.html?org_openpsa_products_search[1][property]=title&org_openpsa_products_search[1][constraint]=LIKE&org_openpsa_products_search[1][value]=omweather&org_openpsa_products_search[2][property]=os&org_openpsa_products_search[2][constraint]=LIKE&org_openpsa_products_search[2][value]=Maemo5&fetch=Search
and not bypass those and go straight to
http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/omweather/. In other words, just
because the search term happens to exactly match an application name should not
be the criteria for bypassing the search results page. Just the fact of only
having one search result should be the criteria, in my opinion.
