Are you we running apt-get clean after each upgrade/installation?

upgrade that the app manager wants to get to is:
Maemo 5 3.2010.02-8
Comment 2 Sivan Greenberg (reporter) 2010-02-17 00:28:22 UTC
so My hunch is that it installs anything to /usr which is correct if to judge
by rtcom-call-ui which is installed there as well.

free space is 30MB in / fs.

I don't even know what I can erase to make it work.

Hi Sivan,
please see the "Not enough space?" section at
http://wiki.maemo.org/Maemo_5/PR1.1.1 .

So given the instructions there, I take it that installing stuff from
Extras-Devel is not something a normal users do? We have to be quite certain of
that before we can just waive our responsibility from making the app manager
"just work".

Is this the same for iPhone ?

Given that adding those repositories can be as easy as clicking the .install
files from the wiki / docs online, I think we should see what we can do to make
some kind of automatic resolution to this.

I agree. I had use xterminal and go thru root to move out some of the temp
files so that I would have enough mb (42mb it says) to run the update. I
understand this phone is not for everyone but the more "tech savvy". But for
Maemo (or in the future Meego) to be successful and have a strong consumer
following, we will need to develop a very user friend and easy fix for
everyone.

I propose we start spec'ing the issues we identify with this, e.g. all the
possibilities in which this situation can arise and devise a systematic
solution.

Do we have a place for that on the wiki?

Oh, and I do want to make this phone / OS for everyone, is this a task already
to move to MeeGo or...?
Comment 9 Andre Klapper maemo.org 2010-02-25 14:23:48 UTC
Closing as INVALID as the error message is clear and because there is simply no
software bug reported here.

As explained at the top of http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras-devel ...

Any exact example URLs?

> Do we have a place for that on the wiki?

Feel free to create one and link it from here.

Just wanted to add on top of this comment, that this is the exact reason why we
need a user story tracker, as this is "not a software bug" but a major disorder
of the OS from the $POLISHED_MOBILE_OS user POV.
