It appears that liblzo has been kindly removed Extras repository

Reassigning to Andrea, since this is more his area, adding Marcell to cc
because he removed liblzo2-2 from Extras (why?)
Comment 3 Marcell Lengyel maemo.org 2010-02-08 11:29:11 UTC
Sorry for removing liblzo without agreeing about it first. Nokia was testing
the SSU update of the next sw release and apparently there is a liblzo2-2
package there too with the exact same version number. However the package size
is different and that was causing major problems.
One possible solution would be to add the exact same liblzo2-2 to extras that
is in the coming SSU update, so there would not be a size difference. I have no
idea if it is possible to go around the autobuilder like that. Niels?

The liblzo2-2 is turning into some kind of fiasco. Liblzo2-2 was originally
available from Nokia Applications/SSU (available from device), then it was
removed, Andrea had to upload it to Extras, it worked fine, and now it was
removed from Extras.

Since liblzo2-2 is going to be included in the next SSU it doesn't make sense
to put it back to Extras. For me it would be logical if liblzo2-2 was added now
to some of the default Nokia repository available from device like it was
before. If Nokia is taking control of liblzo2-2 it's best keep Extras out of
the loop.

All liblzo2-2 related bugs:

PS.
Situations like this can (and therefore will) happen again. It would be good
think about more elegant way to handle this than blindly removing stuff from
Extras. For example increasing version number of package included in SSU?
Comment 6 Daniel (reporter) 2010-02-08 15:52:01 UTC
so there is currently no solution?

i tried with apt-get -f install liblzo2-2 but it didnt work. i dont know how to
copy the messages from xterminal in here.
But it says that the package is not available and then that de package has not
intstallation candidate.

Is there a way to install the .deb file from .documents? I stored the file
there.

Most elegant way is to have exact copy of the pr1.2 package to be copied to
extras.
Comment 8 Niels Breet maemo.org 2010-02-08 16:36:22 UTC
@urho: That doesn't solve anything right now. Current users are being punished
for a change that will come at some point in time, certainly not now.

And after 1.2 release, older firmware tablets still have a problem.

The 'elegant' solution would be to have apt/HAM respect package domains
properly.

I wonder why it was removed from Nokia Applications...

Makes perfect sense, I put lzo back to the Nokia Apps repo. It seems to work
for 2.2009.51-1 device, I was able to install openvpn there.
Comment 10 Daniel (reporter) 2010-02-09 12:05:43 UTC
thanks for putting it back to nokia repo. Now i've successfully installed
openvpn!
You're great!

It was not agreed upon but certainly it didn't come out of the blue for me, see

Amen to that. Closing as per comment #10

@Niels: any application manager fixes that would affect policy, should have
been in pr1.0.1 version. Now, they won't help at all anymore.
