Description heavyt (reporter) 2010-02-06 21:16:31 UTC
Version 7.6-0 can only be install by dpkg -i. After install there were no
options/controls for One Ring.

N810-WiMAX.

The can only install by dpkg. What do you mean? It didn't show up in HAM? it
had unresolved dependencies that dpkg -i ignored?

That issue I cannot confirm without further information. I upgraded through
HAM successfully.

Sorry but I don't know about HAM. I tried to install One Ring by downloading
from http://theonering.garage.maemo.org/download.html and using Application
Manager. But Application Manager gives me an error saying One Ring is "Not
Installable, incompatible application package."

From the website:
"""
Maemo 5 and Later: Currently Only Available in the Dangerous "maemo.org
extras-devel"

Maemo 4.1: Currently Only Available in the Dangerous "maemo.org extras-devel"

Linux: .deb files
"""

I have the deb under "Linux", meaning Desktop Linux. It has different
dependencies and some different files than the one for Maemo 4.1

I am aware it should be only in extras-devel (not showing up there), no
problem. in this post http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=513313&postcount=186
it is stated "The Maemo 4.1 autobuilder is back up and 0.7.6-0 is now available
for Maemo 4.1 users."

Odd. It showed up for me and allowed me to upgrade.

I just checked the repo and it is there

OK, for some reason it is not showing up in Application Manager. So I use
apt-get install which was successful for 7.6-0 (no errors). But still no
options/controls for One Ring. Guess I will wait for a later version, thanks
for the help.

Reducing the severity of this. The advanced settings are "advanced" (well, not
necessarily, thats an artifact of what I use for the UI). I should probably
modify the default values though to prefer sane battery life.
Comment 9 Ed Page 2010-02-19 05:55:20 UTC
Dropping the priority.

None of the settings are critical, the polling numbers are currently chosen to
be somewhat reasonable, and its only an issue with Maemo 4.1. This to me
questions the value of getting this done over some of the other
bugs/enhancements.
