Ringing tone selector crashes Settings application

I am opening this issue on behalf of the wonderful Donna Schwaitzer (donnadin@gmail.com) , as she discovered this crash with her brute force QA of the settings app. She should get credit for this. SOFTWARE VERSION: Maemo 5 , 2,2009.51-1 (Settings > General > About product) EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM: (Explain in detail what you do (e.g. tap on OK) and what you see (e.g. message Connection Failed appears)) 1. Tap the "start" button , e.g. the left upper side where it is divided to 6 small boxes 2. Go to "Settings" 3. Then go to "Profiles" 4. Tap on "Ringing Tone" (the Nokia tune is the default) 5. Select very quickly and change the ringing tone choose, do this without stopping. 6. after a couple of switched the Settings app crashes "Application Internal Error" EXPECTED OUTCOME: Ringing tone should change quickly without crashing the settings app. ACTUAL OUTCOME: settings app crashes miserably. REPRODUCIBILITY: always (always, less than 1/10, 5/10, 9/10) EXTRA SOFTWARE INSTALLED: OTHER COMMENTS: Performance is also jerky for selection of the tones, I suspect this is due to some latency or delay in pulse audio.
So far, there was a random crash report on this; thanks for the reproducible case. (3/10 or thereabouts for me, but practice makes perfect I guess)
Adding Donna to the CC so she could respond to the bug report and re-test when a fix is out.

Confirming as well for PR1.1.1 Steps I did: 1. Tap the "start" button , e.g. the left upper side where it is divided to 6 small boxes 2. Go to "Settings" 3. Then go to "Profiles" 4. Tap on "Ringing Tone" (the Nokia tune is the default) 5. Quickly select 'Lumina' ringtone then tap Done However after attempt to repeat it again, it works fine.

This has been fixed in package maemo-applet-profiles 0.54+0m5 which is part of the internal build version 2010.22-5 (Note: 2010 is the year, and the number after is the week.) A future public update released with the year/week later than this internal build version will include the fix. (This is not always already the next public update.) Please verify that this new version fixes the bug by marking this bug report as VERIFIED after the public update has been released and if you have some time. To answer popular followup questions: * Nokia does not announce release dates of public updates in advance. * There is currently no access to these internal, non-public build versions. The problem reported here should be fixed in the update that was released today for public: The Maemo5 update version 20.2010.36-2 (also called "PR1.3" sometimes). Please leave a comment if the problem is not fixed for you in this update version.
