SOFTWARE VERSION: 2009.51-1 EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM: 1.Email 2.New Account 3.Next 4.Region: USA 5.Service Provider EXPECTED OUTCOME: Nokia Messaging is an option in the service provider list ACTUAL OUTCOME: Nokia Messaging is not in the list of service providers REPRODUCIBILITY: (always) EXTRA SOFTWARE INSTALLED: None OTHER COMMENTS: It seems that the availability of Nokia Messaging in the list of service providers depends on the region. If the sim card is from a region that is not available in the list, Nokia Messaging is not displayed. User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.0; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET CLR 3.5.21022; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; InfoPath.2; OfficeLiveConnector.1.4; OfficeLivePatch.1.3; Creative AutoUpdate v1.10.10)
So where is your SIM card from? :)

Any updates from internal comments if this will be fixed for PR1.2? Bug has been idle for almost 2 months..
From http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=42619 It seems 'Nokia messaging is only activated on certain mobile operators.'

I use a T-Mobile SIM card in the US. At one point, I had successfully set up Nokia Messaging on my N900 using this SIM card (a couple of months ago), but I later deleted it. I recently decided to give it another try, but now the option is missing from the Service Provider list.
Me you and many others have the same exact problem...still awaiting assistance. Hopefully 1.2 will maybe fix this issue. (In reply to comment #7) > I use a T-Mobile SIM card in the US. With an AT&T sim card and the device connected to my wireless network, I was able to see Nokia Messaging in the Service Provider list and have successfully set it up (sort of). But the 'Add New Mailbox' option always takes me to the 'Add New Mail Account' wizard, so I'm not able to add new mailboxes from the device. Adding mailboxes through the website works.
I tried that today and it did not work. Also tried someone elses sim on tmobile with working nokia messenger and that did not work either. I also tried changing my apn to internet2.voicestream.com from epc.tmobile.com and still no luck...doesnt seem to be a network issue. I also restored the phone without a sim card and just tried to setup from wireless network and still nothing. This is beyond frustrating (In reply to comment #9) > With an AT&T sim card and the device connected to my wireless network, I was > able to see Nokia Messaging in the Service Provider list and have successfully > set it up (sort of). Quim, can you clarify when exactly the Nokia Messaging Service is available as email provider and when not?
Same problem here, my SIM is from 3 Ireland.
Would these tips help? http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/nokia-email-service/faq#26
(In reply to comment #13) > Would these tips help? > http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/nokia-email-service/faq#26 > Is there any tip in particular you are refering to? i dont see any that relate to the nokia service not appearing in the list. I get the impression that the sim region or operator data is sent up to nokia and it responds with a list of services but so e regions ard not configured to return the nokia messaging service. Some people reported that using a borrowed sim card temporarily allowed them to configure it.
(In reply to comment #13) > Would these tips help? > http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/nokia-email-service/faq#26 No. Unrelated as there is no error message. :) NMS account type is just not available for some people and people wonder when and why. Me too...
