I have created a bdist_maemo command for distutils--it is available from http://code.rancidbacon.com/maemo/ the most recent release is http://code.rancidbacon.com/maemo/bdist-maemo-0.1.0.zip currently. The command produces .deb files suitable for installation with the Application Installer. It is a pure-Python implementation and requires no external tools (i.e. no ar, tar, gzip, perl, debhelper or dpkg-dev installation is needed). The original motivation was to enable packaging of Maemo .deb files on Mac OS X you can read http://words.rancidbacon.com/ for more details. aCiDBaSe on IRC suggested I create this ticket.
Created an attachment (id=108) [details] Initial release of bdist_maemo
Note: This only installs individual scripts at present--not modules/packages.
See this location for some modifications (including install icon): http://svn.dave.cridland.net/svn/projects/infotrope/polymer-gtk/debfile.py
python for maemo has now a separate home / bug tracker: http://pymaemo.garage.maemo.org/ https://garage.maemo.org/tracker/?atid=229&group_id=40&func=browse So if this is still relevant, please copy it to its own tracker.
