Please, always provide *exact* steps. This is missing steps. As said:
(Explain in detail what you do (e.g. tap on OK) and what you see (e.g. message
Connection Failed appears))

Also, what are your settings under Settings > Language and Region?

Have you used any Synchronization (e.g. to PC, to Exchange, to Google) before?

I have never done a synchronization. Not counting the information retrieved
from Google through my GTalk accounts.
Comment 8 Axel Cortez 2010-01-07 03:03:38 UTC
ok, when my friend birthday which is today got closer to the 6th the calendar
showed the day as the correct one yesterday jumped to the 5th i dont know if it
was because i updated with hermes my contact information and now the desktop
widget shows me the birthday as today and the calendar shows me yesterday.

pretty annoying
Comment 9 Andre Klapper maemo.org 2010-01-07 21:27:51 UTC
Cláudio: Which extras software do you have installed (as Axel mentioned
Hermes)?
Comment 10 Cláudio F. Gil (reporter) 2010-01-07 22:09:50 UTC
Hermes, FriendStatus, Load Applet, Tunner, Pidgin, and MooBox.
Comment 11 Axel Cortez 2010-01-13 16:47:33 UTC
after the firmware update all birthdays appear the day they should.

Great! Thanks for retesting this.
Closing as FIXED.

Comment 15 Lucas Maneos 2010-01-31 17:09:27 UTC
Reopening due to bug 8720, which I could reproduce exactly on 2.2009.51-1.
Comment 16 Andre Klapper maemo.org 2010-02-03 00:13:17 UTC
Tried the steps in bug 8720 in the internal version 2010.05-4:
1. Open existing contact
2. Edit
3. Add field
4. Birthday
5. (26/3/1972)
6. Save
7. Close Contacts
8. Go to Calendar
9. Month view
10. Go to March in 2010
11. Birthday is displayed correctly on the 26th

How did you find out that it was displayed correctly until 1980? Scrolling to
death in the Calendar, or is there an easy way to go 30 years back that I don't
know of?
Comment 17 Jon Stockill 2010-02-03 00:20:49 UTC
The calendar menu has a "jump to" option.
Comment 18 Andre Klapper maemo.org 2010-02-03 00:25:43 UTC
Gnarf! Thanks. :-)
(Fail. I was looking for something like "Go to")

As written, I cannot reproduce this. Probably fixed internally in the meantime.
Comment 19 Jon Stockill 2010-02-03 00:40:52 UTC
Thanks - I'll check it again after the next update.
Comment 20 Andre Klapper maemo.org 2010-03-04 22:54:11 UTC
Does this still happen in 3.2010.02-8?
Comment 21 Cláudio F. Gil (reporter) 2010-03-04 22:58:52 UTC
I added a few birthdays recently and one just now to the 6th of March.
Everything seems to be working as expected.

Unable to confirm, still awaiting UK firmware release.

Yes, the test case from bug 8720 is still reproducible (hardly surprising since
3.2010.02-8 didn't update contacts or calendar).
Comment 24 Sergey 2010-03-15 23:56:03 UTC
I've go the same issue: added birthday 27.03.1989. After year 1991 it is shown
on the 26.03
Comment 25 Arne 2010-03-21 14:30:24 UTC
I have the same problem. Not only does the birthday appear also on the day
before, but the day before that etc. Up to two weeks so far. I also have some
bithdays appearing the next day. Hopeless!
On my N900 this seems to be related to Exchange syncing.
I note that the duration is set to 00:00 to 00:00, could this be the problem
(should rather flow the event over to the next day though).
Comment 26 Simon Pickering maemo.org 2010-03-25 20:03:20 UTC
I've got this problem too I've just noticed.

Firmware version 3.2010.02-8

E.g. Add contact with birthday on the 26th March 1978, look at the calendar app
and/or desktop widget, it shows that person's birthday as being on the 25th of
March.

I've not done any syncing.

running 3.2010.02-8 i've got the same problem. though i have done syncing
through the nokia provided pc suite with outlook and have used hermes.
Comment 29 Sergey 2010-05-25 22:58:53 UTC
Running 10.2010.19-1.
I've got this issue. I haven't done any syncing. Children are doing such
program-errors.
Comment 30 Jon Stockill 2010-05-27 00:30:45 UTC
Confirmed still present after PR1.2 update

This is a reproducible test case here too on PR1.2/10.2010.19-1 from a reflash
of Global (plus eMMC). My device doesn't sync with anything either.

Astonished this hasn't been fixed, it makes the Calendar application pretty
worthless if it can't display dates correctly.
Comment 32 Andre Klapper maemo.org 2010-05-27 01:53:39 UTC
It's in the line(AE)/queue(BE) for the update after PR1.2.
Comment 33 Andre Klapper maemo.org 2010-06-14 13:06:20 UTC
This has been fixed in package
calendar-backend 0.8-2+0m5
which is part of the internal build version
2010.23-8
(Note: 2009/2010 is the year, and the number after is the week.)

A future public update released with the year/week later than this internal
build version will include the fix. (This is not always already the next public
update.)
Please verify that this new version fixes the bug by marking this bug report as
VERIFIED after the public update has been released and if you have some time.

To answer popular followup questions:
 * Nokia does not announce release dates of public updates in advance.

Comment 34 Andre Klapper maemo.org 2010-10-25 17:13:15 UTC
The problem reported here should be fixed in the update that was released today
for public: The Maemo5 update version 20.2010.36-2 (also called "PR1.3"
sometimes). Please leave a comment if the problem is not fixed for you in this
update version.
