Comment 1 Andre Klapper maemo.org 2009-11-26 20:34:29 UTC
Thanks for reporting this.

This is missing steps to reproduce.

What is your exact configuration? Which services do you use? As you have filed
this under Mail for Exchange, which version of Exchange is used (5.5, 2003,
2007)?

> I didn't try in fetch mode but only in push mode active.

Where exactly can this be set?
Comment 2 Andrea Musci (reporter) 2009-11-26 20:47:10 UTC
I'll try to be more precise.
I only have my Mail For Exchange account. No other email boxes.
I'm using Mail2Web Personal service, which uses Exhange 2007.

I used the "always up" sync mode, in the advanced account setting.

If you need further info, please do ask. Thanks

Could not find an internal ticket about this.
Vitaly, have you heard about this? Several confirmations...

Seems to be this one: #140449. Fix integrated on w 47.
Comment 6 Andre Klapper maemo.org 2009-12-03 12:16:20 UTC
Irina: Ah, thanks a lot!

Andrea:
This has been fixed in package
modest 3.1.16+0m5
which is part of the internal build version
2.2009.47-23
(Note that 2009 is the year and the number after is the week.)

Any public update released with or after this build version will include the
fix.
Please verify that the new version fixes the bug by marking this bug report as
VERIFIED after the public update has been released and if you have some time.
Comment 7 Andre Klapper maemo.org 2010-01-14 12:28:24 UTC
The problem reported here should be fixed in the update released today for
public: The Maemo5 update version 2.2009.51-1 (also called "PR1.1" sometimes).
Please leave a comment if the problem is not fixed for you in this update
version.
Comment 8 Andrea Musci (reporter) 2010-01-15 10:52:39 UTC
I can't confirm this problem is solved: when I receive one new email, the
notification balloon still leads to a blank email with no object.

What is your exact email configuration? How many accounts, which type of
accounts? It's easier to reproduce and fix if circumstances are known...
Comment 10 Andrea Musci (reporter) 2010-01-15 15:28:13 UTC
Everything is exactly as it was in post #2
Comment 11 Vitaly Repin 2010-01-19 17:13:24 UTC
Internal bug id: 140449

It shall be fixed in PR 1.1.

But per last comments it is not the case.
Comment 12 Uwe Kaminski 2010-01-22 11:46:32 UTC
Maybe this helps a little bit:
(I am using Exchange Server 2003)

It only happens for synchronized Mail for Exchange Mails (I never saw this in
IMAP accounts) and I'm not sure how to reproduce it exactly. But the "blank"
mails
* are shown in the email list on top because they are getting the actual device
time
* have no sender (in from-field) but they have my Exchange mail address as
to-adress
* have the size 0KB as I can see in the messages details
* can be in the state "read" and "unread"
* seem to be the "oldest" messages in the list. If I scroll down to the first
message which does not show the symptoms described above it is the message
which should be the first in the list (because it's really the "newest"
synchronized message)

So as a workaround for this bug scroll down the mail list until you see
messages containing a sender (in the from-field). This are the newest messages
(I assume the list is sorted by date).

HTH, Uwe

Uwe, if you still face this problem in 3.2010.02-8, can you provide a log?

I'm unable to reproduce this bug. I tried for a few weeks but it never appears
again.

Feel free to close this bug as fixed. :)

I still have this bug.
Not the way Uwe reports it, as I don't get this list he mentions.

In my case, I only have the Mail for Exchange configured to connect to an
Exchange Server 2007 (using secured connection). (always syncrhonised)

As there is only one new message, I get a notification of the mail with
subject, but as soon as I push this notification I got a blank email reading
screen. As I push the arrow in the right corner (the one that closes this
window on top of another, don't know how to put this...) I get in the menu
where you see the email accounts configure (only that one for me). Tapping this
one followed by tapping the inbox folder and the message wil open the message
correctly.

Seems like a different issue, hence adjusting Alias field.

Same issue here with PR1.2

Hi,

Just want to confirm that this bug indeed still exists in PR 1.2.

I've tested the 1.2 firmware with an exchange 2007 and 2010 account, both
resulting in a blank e-mail when tapping on the notification. The accounts were
entered with the wizard, both with and without ssl encryption.

It is extremely annoying.
Comment 19 Kym 2010-07-12 13:18:01 UTC
confirm Mfe 2003 does not work with PR1.2 (10.2010.19-1)

Whats the deal with PR 1.1 supporting mfe 2003 then a newer update NOT?!!!

Different code issue with same user-visible outcome. Hence a different bug.
For future reference please avoid such comments as they are not technically
helpful. There is http://talk.maemo.org for such kind of conversation.

> Different code issue with same user-visible outcome. Hence a different bug.

Actually the user-visible outcome isn't the same either. This bug is about a
blank mail when tapping on a new e-mail. As far as I understand Kym, your bug
is about the disfunctioning of exchange 2003 in general?

Question for Andre Klapper: Do you expect this issue to be resolved in the next
firmware update? It's been 8 months and two firmware updates since the first
bug report for this issue was submitted, and each update should fix the
problem. In fact, the bug is still here. Is there any more info I can provide
on this bug? Perhaps logs?

> Do you expect this issue to be resolved in the next firmware update?

No Target Milestone set, neither here nor internally by Nokia.

> Is there any more info I can provide on this bug? Perhaps logs?

Log already exists internally...
