SOFTWARE VERSION:

EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM: 
1. Use Maps application. 

EXPECTED OUTCOME:
Display stays on all the time.

ACTUAL OUTCOME:
Display goes dimmed after time set in Display applet in Control panel.

REPRODUCIBILITY:
Always

Thanks for reporting this.

I assume that the current behaviour is for power saving reasons.

How do you use Maps so that you do not want it to dim the screen? Knowing the
reason for a request always makes it easier when discussing this with
developers and managers if you describe why you want this. :-)
As I expect others to wish to keep the current behaviour, would you also be
fine with a setting in either the Settings>Display applet (like "Ignore screen
dimming settings when having Maps opened and in foreground") or in the Maps
application itself?

It's annoying when driving a car and navigating because of dimming. Maps is
almost useless at the moment because you have to touch the screen every minute
or so. 
I think it would be better if I could choose whether dim screen or not in Maps
application, but in Settings->Display applet would be fine too.

This will be FIXED in Harmattan (the version after Maemo5), but changing
this for Fremantle (Maemo5) is a WONTFIX for Nokia currently.
