SOFTWARE VERSION: (Control Panel > General > About product) STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM: Click on a radio internet stream URL EXPECTED OUTCOME: Music streams in media player, Artist and track information is consistent with music ACTUAL OUTCOME: Music streams in media player, Artist and track information is not correct - it stops being updated and remains static to when the media player was started REPRODUCIBILITY: always EXTRA SOFTWARE INSTALLED: none OTHER COMMENTS: This is a fresh out-of-the-box N900 received at the Maemo Summit. (In reply to comment #1) > Hej hej Jeremiah, > > > SOFTWARE VERSION: I am using mediaplayer: 0.70-1+0m5 > > For future reference please fill this in. > > > STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM: > > Click on a radio internet stream URL > > Can you please provide the very exact steps? 1. Open Maemo's web browser. 2. Click on a link for streaming audio, like: http://www.radioparadise.com/musiclinks/rp_128.m3u 3. Mediaplayer opens, messages saying "connecting" and "buffering" appear. 4. The song title as well as artist is displayed above the progress bar 5. Song and title are not updated as artist and song title change Another perhaps related issue is that there is a lot of dropped connections, or connections that require re-buffering. Frequent requirements to re-buffer ruin the experience of 'radio' for the end user.
Can't really test this as I get reconnected too often (got only 3Mbit/sec here). Second comment by a different user highly welcome. Did not yet find an existing internal ticket about this.
Bug 5382 looked a bit related, but that's only about the widget. :-/
This seems difficult to reproduce. I tried various streams from http://www.di.fm/mobile/ side by side on N810 and N900. Once, but only once, N900 displayed no song information at all, despite playing for several minutes, N810 sitting next to it had displayed the song information before playback started. Several other times I get updating artist information on N900 as well. The above site has many low-bandwidth (24k) aacplus streams which seems handy for testing on low bandwidth. Unfortunately many of them favour hour-long songs, but the "Top Hits Music" seems to play short songs. Does http://www.sky.fm/aacplus/tophits.pls work OK for the reporter? Testing the reporter's link, I get no buffering/breaks or disconnects. N810 and N900 playing simultaneously on 1Mbit/s connection. Arist and song get updated on both devices. The update came before the actual song changed, on both.
Sounds similar to #141346. Does it happen even if the media player is _always_ in foreground AND screen is NOT blanked? Just try to play the music, tap on touchscreen every couple of seconds to prevent timeout screen blanking.

The media player just stops updating stream artist information.
This has been fixed in package mediaplayer 1.1-1+0m5 which is part of the internal build version 2.2009.42-9 (Note: 2009 is the year, and the number after is the week.) This is not included in 1.2009.42-11. A future public update released with the year/week later than this internal build version will include the fix. (This is not always already the next public update.) Please verify that this new version fixes the bug by marking this bug report as VERIFIED after the public update has been released and if you have some time. To answer popular followup questions: * Nokia does not announce release dates of public updates in advance. * There is currently no access to these internal, non-public build versions. A Brainstorm proposal to change this exists at http://maemo.org/community/brainstorm/view/undelayed_bugfix_releases_for_nokia_open_source_packages-002/
The problem reported here should be fixed in the update released today for public: The Maemo5 update version 2.2009.51-1 (also called "PR1.1" sometimes). Please leave a comment if the problem is not fixed for you in this update version.
I have been testing this for hours the last two days since my update of the N900. I can happily say that I think this bug is fixed! Good work! :-)
*** Bug 7453 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Still happens with PR1.2 (as described in bug 7453).
I can confirm, unfortunately PR 1.2 brought back this bug. I wanna add some more info: I noticed that title song is updated when the phone is *not* locked, even if Media Player is in the background, while the title song is *never* updated when the phone is locked.
SOFTWARE VERSION: (Control Panel > General > About product) 10.2010.19-1.002 STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM: 1. Open Media player, go to the internet radio section 2. Add http://hd.streamingsoundtracks.com 3. Begin playing, the artist/song name for the initial track is shown 4. Wait until the track ends and next one begins EXPECTED OUTCOME: Artist and track information is updated ACTUAL OUTCOME: Artist and track information is not updated REPRODUCIBILITY: 10/10, Always EXTRA SOFTWARE INSTALLED: none OTHER COMMENTS: If you have the media player widget on your desktop, the artist/track information IS SHOWN UPDATED on the widget, but when you switch back to the media player the media player still has the old information from the initial track. In other words, media player widget is working as the media player should be in terms of artist/track information being updated.
If this still happens in 20.2010.36-2 please file a new bug. Yeah, I know it doesn't sound like it makes sense instead of reopening this one but due to weird reasons that I don't know it's how Nokia's error management works (raising new issues instead of reopening in case of older issues). Sorry for the additional work. :-/
