Description Ville Reijonen (reporter) 2009-10-08 14:44:00 UTC
SOFTWARE VERSION:
Maemo 5 SDK final release. Should apply therefore also to the product.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM:
Create an event which begins next week on (from) Monday and ends on (to)
Friday.
OR
Create an repeating event lasting 1 hour which starts (from) Monday on next
week and repeats until Friday.

EXPECTED OUTCOME:
When the to (or until) is selected, a day picker is presented. It shows a
smaller calendar month view with current day (if visible) and the starting day
marked. The view can be changed from month- to month+ and year- to year+ if
wanted.

ACTUAL OUTCOME:
_You_ have to count five days forward to hit the Friday as end target. If you
count wrong and press save you need to return to the day picker to fix it.

REPRODUCIBILITY:
always

OTHER COMMENTS:
The classical solution is in this case better than the new.

This is extremely annoying for tasks that span a month change (how many days
are 26 feb--3 mar). :(

Datepicker how it is implemented in PalmOS (since 1996)

This is entirely better and takes much more benefit of the advantages of a
touch-screen.
Comment 4 Johannes Twittmann 2010-01-26 15:22:26 UTC
Another layout proposal:
- left: year-picker (scrolling)
- aside the month-picker, two rows each with six months (see attached picture)
or scrolling like the year above
- center: a smaller month view
- right: "OK" "Cancel" "Today"

The Maemo 5 User Interface and Maemo 5 platform components (e.g. libraries)
used for the N900 are considered stable by Nokia and it seems that there are no
plans for official updates currently, hence nobody plans to work on this
enhancement/wishlist request.
(And in case you feel like discussing this situation: Nokia Customer Care or
http://talk.maemo.org would be the place to do so as you will not reach Nokia
officials in this community bugtracker - though all of this is really no news.)

Reflecting this status by setting RESOLVED WONTFIX for this
enhancement/wishlist request (see
https://bugs.maemo.org/page.cgi?id=fields.html#status for status explanations).

There is a small chance for issues in those Maemo components that are open
source: Contributed patches could be included and made available in the Maemo 5
Community CSSU updates.
The Maemo CSSU project is run by a small team of volunteers; see
http://wiki.maemo.org/CSSU for more information.
So in case that you can provide a patch that fixes the reported problem, please
feel encouraged to file a request under
https://bugs.maemo.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Maemo%205%20Community%20SSU .
Please note: The Maemo CSSU project is not related in any way to Nokia.
