Description Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri (reporter) 2006-05-24 15:06:57 UTC
Virtual Keyboard shoud require more hints from users and change itself in order
to help users type quickly.

1) When entering numbers, alphabet should be hidden and numeric keypad enlarged,
to allow users to use thumbs.

2) Applications may differ in what extra symbols user will type more, as an
example: Browser require user to type ":" (as in http://), but ";" is shown
instead. Applications should be able to tell virtual keyboard what extra symbols
it want to be shown. With this "calculator" could have its own keypad removed,
since it would be entered from virtual keyboard.

Request for enhancement, will be forwarded to upstream maintainer ASAP.

for reference you can tap down on the ; and drag up past its top to avoid using
shift. i'm sure it's documented somewhere, but I have no idea where.

I wish I knew where this wishlist went.

This stacks multiple requests into one bug; anyway, 2) is in the current plans
for Harmattan release.
Comment 6 Quim Gil nokia 2008-12-15 09:35:08 UTC
Since the request is vague and we are indeed working to have a "smarter"
virtual keyboard in Harmattan, I will resolved this enhancement request as
fixed for Harmattan.

Please reopen or create specific enhancement requests if you are unsure about
this resolutions.
