Description Jochen Eisinger (reporter) 2006-02-28 10:19:26 UTC
When i connect the charger I can't boot the device anymore (or I can, but it
act's dead). Instead it enters runlevel 5 and acts dead.

This is really undesirable behaviour, it should at least give an option to boot
to the default runlevel.

Claiming ownership.

Jochen, could you please provide some more info, like:

* which product image version
* detailed step-by-step instructions how to reproduce
* expected result
* actual result
Comment 3 Jochen Eisinger (reporter) 2006-05-08 19:33:45 UTC
This happens for example with 2005.51.

steps to reproduce:

turn device off
attach charger
turn device on

actual results:

device enters runlevel 5 and "act's dead" (that's not a term invented by me, but
used in the linuxrc of the initrd)

desired results:

device boots as normal (or at least offers you to do so)

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm able to reproduce this behavior with 2006-13, sort of. I noticed that the
device is not responsive until the "Charging" animation appears on the display.
After that the device boots as it should. I'll contact the upstream maintainer
and check if this is expected behavior or not.

Feature request has been forwarded to upstream maintainer.

Comment 7 Jochen Eisinger (reporter) 2007-01-24 23:17:26 UTC
btw, that's still a bug with the latest OS :-(

if the battery is empty, you can't boot the device completely. It won't boot
without AC connected, and if the AC is connected, it will 'act dead'.

This is intended behaviour. You can boot the device as normal from acting dead
by holding the power button for (approximately) 1s.

Nokia phones behave in the same way, FWIW.
