Description cameron.goble (reporter) 2008-11-22 20:16:50 UTC
SOFTWARE VERSION:
2.0.0-beta9-maemo3

STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM:
Launch Canola.

EXPECTED OUTCOME:
See interface buttons for Videos, Internet media, podcasts, etc

ACTUAL OUTCOME:
Only buttons available are Audio (My music only), Photos (My photos only), and
Settings (Media library, Chose Theme, and General only)

REPRODUCIBILITY:
Always. Rebooting the N800 does not fix the problem.

EXTRA SOFTWARE INSTALLED:
Canola2-Flickr-plugin   0.0.3-3
Canola2-Lastfm-plugin   0.1.1-maemo2
Canola2-Theme-Deepblue  1.0.0-maemo6
Canola2-Theme-Flatblack 1.0.0-maemo6
Canola2-upnp-plugin     0.1.1-maemo3
Canola2-youtube-plugin  0.1.4-maemo1

OTHER COMMENTS:

Recently updated youtube plugin and installed two themes. I'll remove those
and see if it fixes the problem. I just hope I don't have to rebuild my
Podcast list.

Could you provide us the Canola log by running it in Xterm using the -vv
option? If you don't know how to do it, please type the following command

$ canola -vv > /media/mmc2/log.txt 2>&1

This command will save the log.txt file in your internal memory card. You can
change it to /media/mmc1/log.txt if you want the file to be saved in your
external memory card.

Now that's weird.

And this is even more weird. This is something I would say impossible
to happen. Try with some more 'v' chars:

 $ canola -vvvvv

If it don't produce any output, the last chance is to rescan your
plugins. First remove your plugins.piclkle in .canola dir:

 $ rm /home/user/.canola/plugins.pickle

As root, remove the plugins.pickle from /usr/share/canola/plugins:

 $ sudo gainroot
 # rm /usr/share/canola/plugins/plugins.pickle

Now call cnl-rescan-collections to rebuild the plugin database, still as root:

 # cnl-rescan-collections

And try launching canola. Something may had gone wrong during the installation.

Please tell me if you succeeded.

Best Regards, Etrunko

Removing the pickle files and rescanning the collections had no effect.

I attempted to cleanly uninstall Canola using the canola-cleanup script. The
script errored at the Software step with "Unknown version, please report."

I removed Canola from the Application Manager and reinstalled it.

SUCCESS!

The icons are all back. I will reinstall the plugins one by one to see if any
of them set this problem off again. Otherwise, no clue as to what set this
problem off.

Changing component to Installation.

Which version of the cleanup script you have installed? The latest version in
extras repository is 0.1.8-maemo3, and includes support for Diablo.

Anyway, we might need to provide something better in Canola to trace these
kinds of issues.
