Description Matt Johnston (reporter) 2008-08-14 04:11:38 UTC
SOFTWARE VERSION:
Diablo

STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM:
Try to start E-mail.

EXPECTED OUTCOME:
Given E-mail is an "Internet thing" (think web browsers, email, messenger as
standard internet uses) then clicking on Internet list will have E-mail there.

ACTUAL OUTCOME:
It's in Communications.

If there has actually been some testing that has shown that users would find it
in Communications more often, them I'm happy for this to be closed. There's
also the funny situation of "Internet call" not being under the Internet
category...

I guess the problem is the screen estate. You should avoid having two many apps
in one category to avoid the need of scrolling. I agree that current situation
is not perfect, but I'd like to see a better proposal than "creating the huge
internet category with lots of application starters in it so one has to scroll
more often".

Potential WONTFIX as I don't see a good trade-off.

Problem here, as usual, is taxonomy. E-mail is obviously both, so having the
divide itself is wrong. Renaming "Internet" to "Web" or such would make email
be on the right side and remove some of the confusion. Without fixing the
actual problem, of course.

Sorry, Email is in communication - because it is communication :) - but also
because in this manner we can avoid having to scroll by default, which was a
key target here.

Anyway, the menu structure is different in Fremantle/Harmattan, so this bug is
not relevant in Fremantle.
