Description jesse (reporter) 2007-11-17 20:07:57 UTC
EXPECTED OUTCOME:
Start reading a 350 page PDF. Get 10 pages into it, close application. Reopen
application. Back at page 10.

ACTUAL OUTCOME:
Start reading a 350 page PDF. Get 10 pages into it, close application. Reopen
application. Back at page 1.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM:
See above

OTHER COMMENTS:
FBReader does this already for non-PDF documents. We can maybe take some
inspiration from there. However, FBReader uses a Library concept which I think
is probably too complex for PDF Reader.

Instead, I think it would be fine if we just remembered the name of every PDF
we open and associate a last viewed page number with it.

This could be expanded into a more general "Bookmarks" concept with
add/edit/delete functionality, but I don't think that's strictly necessary at
first.

What happens when you open 1 million pdf files? well, you've got 1 million name
-> page number mappings. Store that info in gconf. Shouldn't take up too much
space.

Important notice for a small screen PDF reader.
It's quite annoying to change page every run.
However it's possible just to not turn off the device and minimize PDF till
Nokia dev's solve it.
Comment 2 Haibo Li 2008-08-27 09:23:43 UTC
I just complete that function.
Start reading a 350 page PDF. Get 10 pages into it, close application. Reopen
application. It will open the latest PDF document and back to page 10.
I don't know what outcome is you expected? Because this fuction only can open
the latest PDF document and upload to the page you recent read, but cann't back
to the page you recent read for evry PDF file.

Bug 594 is either related or a duplicate.
Comment 5 Andre Klapper maemo.org 2008-11-17 01:19:13 UTC
Also note that the 3rd party port of Evince provides this functionality:
http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/evince/
Comment 6 Łukasz Derkacz 2008-11-17 12:06:24 UTC
Yeah, but Evince remembers only the page, not the place where you've finished
reading (line). Anyway that helps in the reading.

What's more funny "Bug 594" has a Maemo QA comment in 2006 "Thank you for your
feedback". C'mon...

Comment 8 Javier Jardón 2009-03-29 21:03:03 UTC
Still valid in 4.1.3 (5.2008.43-7) maemo version
Comment 9 Andre Klapper maemo.org 2011-11-15 12:23:32 UTC
Nokia has no plans to fix this for Maemo5 or for MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan.
Closing as WONTFIX.
