maemo.org Bugzilla – Bug 1673
Allow use of current artist/song being played for IM status message
Last modified: 2009-12-07 08:52:25 UTC
You need to
before you can comment on or make changes to this bug.
One very popular feature people love with their IM clients and music players is
the ability for the IM program to know what the user's music player is playing
and use it or append it to the IM program's current status message.
I assume this can easily be done with D-Bus bindings.
For example, I'm playing... say 1979 by The Smashing Pumpkins in the Media
Player, my status message for Jabber would read as "Currently playing: 1979 by
The Smashing Pumpkins".
Setting HIGH visibility.
Is it the music player's responsibility to call MissionControl API to update
status message according to the current track? Actually Vagalume (lastfm client
for Maemo) already has this feature for N810.
Mikhail, is this an enhancement request for rtcomm or the Media Application

Depends on which component is better suited for updating presence status with
the track data. I'd put it to MAF.
The scope of bugs.maemo.org are bugs and only very specific and no-brainer
enhancement requests. This report contains a feature request that is too
generic for bugs.maemo.org. Please post this problem and propose your
solution in Maemo Brainstorm instead:
