Description David Hagood (reporter) 2007-07-10 00:27:46 UTC
The camera app in the latest software, while behaving MUCH BETTER for taking
still pictures, no longer seems to support recording movies. If this feature is
being deleted for some reason it would be nice if it were noted somewhere, like
in the camera help.
Comment 1 Jake Kunnari 2007-07-10 12:01:51 UTC
Camera application did not support video before and does not support it now.
It's just for taking still pictures.

EXCUSE ME!?! It most certainly *did* support taking movies, as I had done so!
True, they were only 172*160 but it did indeed record movies.

I suggest you go talk to the people who know what they are talking about before
closing bugs!

What version of camera you are taking about? I have version 2.1 in other N800
device and version 2.9 in other and i cannot take video clips with either of
them. Both are installed from tableteer

Keep your pants on David... You are talking about different things here. Jake
means the camera app found in the tableteer repository, you are talking about
the app from https://garage.maemo.org/projects/camera/.

The garage version does not seem to be from Nokia -- someone just made a
version that supports video and didn't change the name as I think he should
have.

OK, fair enough - you can imagine the source of my confusion between the two
apps.

However, when somebody says "no longer seems to support" this implies that they
believe that it DID - flat out telling them "NO IT DID NOT" is pretty
insulting. Saying "The official versions never did - what version were you
running?" would be a bit more polite.

I agree that this is very confusing. Maemo devs should contact the author of
the "unofficial" version and ask him to change the name.

David, i'm sorry if i have insulted you, but i did not know that there was
version of camera app which can record video clips. I will close this bug now
and i will contact author of that other camera app and him to change name.

And I apologize for overreacting. I've been on your side of the system myself.
