SOFTWARE VERSION: master Feedback in Nokia Store: > Nice chat is included... > by Eppukoo on a Nokia N9 20 days ago > ... but operating instructions would be needed. Currently the chat area is a dark grey rectangle. Once you see text there or once you know you can tap it the purpose is obvious, but we need to guide new users through this first simple step.
We will put a text prompt there "Touch this text to write a message" or so. I leave the proper wording to you, Quim. Once the chat area is touched & expands, prompt disappears. It appears again when chat log is empty, say, when a new game is started. As such, I would propose to tune down the font color a notch or two, as to make it look "weaker" than normal chat.
What about inserting all the strings shown in the chat area to the model? It simpler and does the trick. For example, this is the text that the local side would see when started a game: Tap this area to chat with your opponent.
Bah, I decided to resolve this in the UI only since there was a simple solution: http://gitorious.org/miniature/miniature/commit/a0a5cd3a414691621b254433174d508b6b268adf "Tap to chat" text appears while there are no chat messages. It disappears as soon as the local or remote side post something.
