Description Andrew Flegg (reporter) maemo.org 2007-03-29 15:38:28 UTC
I tried to create a version of the Plankton theme with smaller fonts, however
although Matchbox's title bar size changes, application font sizes do not change
- even after a reboot.

Attempted to install OS 2007 v2 theme (see URL) which also shrunk the font size,
and was surprised to see that it didn't change the font size now either.

Steps to reproduce:
  1) Install hildon-theme-cacher from:
http://tigert.1g.fi/blog-files/n800-theme/hildon-theme-cacher_0.2.0-1_armel.deb

  2) Install Plankton theme:
http://tigert.1g.fi/blog-files/n800-theme/experimental/hildon-theme-plankton_3.1.0-1_all.deb

  3) Install Adria (12pt) theme:
http://www.bleb.org/software/maemo/aria-12pt_1.0_all.deb

Font sizes in menus and titlebars should be much smaller than default Maemo size.

Adding Tuomas to CC. Tuomas, you have experience with this issue: can you
comment this?
Comment 2 Sebi Ryffel 2007-05-13 23:52:40 UTC
I think that you have to run the theme cacher after you changed something.
Running
# hildon-theme-cacher /usr/share/themes/plankton
should fix it.
Comment 3 Andrew Flegg (reporter) maemo.org 2007-05-15 11:52:48 UTC
Why would running hildon-theme-cacher over plankton fix problems with another
theme?

Either way, I've run it over both plankton *and* adria-12pt to no affect.

Re-assigned to correct person.

Reassigning to Tuomas.

Hmm. The font sizes are defined in "themespecificgtk.rc" in theme-tools'
hildon-theme-layout-* packages. Look for a style definition named
"osso-SystemFont" on the installed gtkrc on your device (they get all combined
to just one file in the final packaging)

There should be definitions for all font sizes, currently they seem to be
"Nokia Sans 16.75" for the default fonts. If something uses the Nokia font in
the UI, it should get it from this definition really.

Check what you have in your gtkrc and let's see, maybe there is some value that
did not get changed correctly? Are you adjusting these by hand, or with the
thememaker or theme-tools?
Comment 7 Andrew Flegg (reporter) maemo.org 2007-09-11 10:24:20 UTC
They have been changed by hand. For example, check the gtkrc in the 12pt
version of Adria linked to above.

I haven't yet attempted to reproduce on OS 2007 v4 - but the steps above should
make it fairly straightforward to test :-)

Andrew, has this improved in Diablo or is this still an issue?
Comment 9 Andrew Flegg (reporter) maemo.org 2008-10-14 15:42:45 UTC
Haven't tried recently, TBH.

I'll try and find time to recreate.
Comment 10 Andre Klapper maemo.org 2008-11-22 18:30:28 UTC
moreinfo as per last comment
Comment 11 Quim Gil nokia 2009-02-01 23:07:43 UTC
WORKSFORME as per comment #6

Please reopen if you still find this to be a bug in the latest stable release.
