Description Mikko Kupila (reporter) 2011-02-04 00:49:24 UTC
EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM:
1. Start an SMS conversation with a contact
2. Enter an SMS consisting of more than 160 characters
3. Send the SMS

EXPECTED OUTCOME:
The SMS message is sent and is in "pending status" (with the little outbox icon
at the bottom right) for a few seconds until transmission success.

ACTUAL OUTCOME:
The SMS stays in the pending status for several minutes; prompting me to try to
send the SMS again with a similar result.
My contact asks me why I sent the same message several times.
Thus the messages were transmitted, but the device claims them to be pending.

REPRODUCIBILITY:
Several times until I reinstalled stock pr 1.3

COMMENTS:
I bailed the community ssu after this problem; I decided to post this bug in
retrospect, hoping it would be useful. Unfortunately I did not research the
problem further at the time; though appearance and disappearance of the
symptoms do indicate the bug was related to the community ssu.

Hello and thanks for reporting this.
We have not included any packages related to sending SMS messages that can
cause this bug.
If you have the time, then please, test the CSSU again, if the problem persists
after that, then reopen the bug.
Closing as RESOLVED INVALID.

Mikko, you don't happen to be on O2/GiffGaff do you?

I assume this is an operator, in which case no. I was on Saunalahti (Finland)
when this occured. I stress that the message got sent, the gui just didn't
report it.

Yea, they're network operators. I sent a long message today and got the same
problem as you but then the problem started happening with short messages too.
I looked into it and O2 and GiffGaff have been having problems with SMS for the
last few days... Any way, if after they sort the network problems my SMS
problems continue I'll update this bug thread...
