Twitter update overwrites nicknames

SOFTWARE VERSION: 0.8.7 EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM: 1. Sync with Twitter EXPECTED OUTCOME: My contacts' icons are updated. ACTUAL OUTCOME: My contacts' icons are updated, and their nicknames are replaced with their Twitter usernames. REPRODUCIBILITY: always This is pretty annoying. It basically means I can't get decent icons for my friends who use Twitter but not Facebook without manually deleting all the Twitter-username nicknames for the contacts I have shortcuts for. It would be less annoying if existing nicknames weren't trampled on. But I don't think this is very useful behaviour in any case.
Nicknames are a feature; however they shouldn't be being trampled on. Can you confirm the "Steps to reproduce" please? For example, are you clicking _Retrieve_ or _Refresh_? Assuming you're "retrieving" missing info, I'll treat this as the "nicknames shouldn't be overwritten". Could you raise an enhancement request to make "nicknames from twitter" optional, please? Thanks in advance, Andrew

For example, are you clicking > _Retrieve_ or _Refresh_? I think I hit Refresh. I actually have no idea what the difference between the two is. If “Refresh” means “overwrite local info, rather than only adding missing info” then I guess I got what I asked for. > Assuming you're "retrieving" missing info, I'll treat this as the "nicknames > shouldn't be overwritten". (In reply to comment #2) > If “Refresh” means “overwrite local info, rather than only adding > missing info” then I guess I got what I asked for. That's exactly what it means. Bug 5452 is dealing with a similar issue. Improved wording so that people knew what they were getting would be appreciated.

I suppose this is obvious in retrospect, reading the 10 words on the screen a little more closely. Okay, let's mark this as a dup of 5452 tbh. I can't think of better wording off-hand… *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 5452 ***
