Description Jussi Kukkonen (reporter) 2007-03-19 14:42:39 UTC
The "Create account"-page on test.maemo.org is
https://garage.maemo.org/account/register.php, this seems to imply that a garage
account can be used to access test.maemo.org.

I have a Garage account already (id 143), but my login attempts to
test.maemo.org are not authorized... I assume I should be allowed to login?
Comment 1 Ferenc Szekely maemo.org 2007-03-19 15:53:42 UTC
I found a workaround for the current network connection problems that make it
impossible to automatically synchronize accounts. I will implement it now.
Comment 2 mike morrison 2007-04-16 14:46:38 UTC
what is the status on this bug? when will we be able to log in?
Comment 3 mike morrison 2007-04-16 15:09:05 UTC

http://bergie.iki.fi/blog/maemo_downloads_is_again_open_for_business.html

but i still can't log in. my garage username is: mike_morrison
Comment 4 Ferenc Szekely maemo.org 2007-04-25 16:16:23 UTC
Please try again. This bug is supposed to be fixed.
Comment 5 Jussi Kukkonen (reporter) 2007-05-05 09:58:55 UTC
I'm reopening this the second time, as the website launch seems to have eaten
my comment from thursday night.

I'm still seeing this issue: logging in with garage credentials does not work,
I just get another login dialog. Logging in to garage with the same
username/password does work.

my garage username is jku.
Comment 6 Jussi Kukkonen (reporter) 2007-05-05 13:03:30 UTC
Ah, forgot to mention -- my last comment concerns the new, live maemo.org site.

Changing summary accordingly.
Comment 7 Quim Gil nokia 2007-05-06 11:37:48 UTC
Many people has reported this bug by email or on IRC.

My suspicion is that users that had alrady logged to test.maemo.org can log
currently on maemo.org and garage without problems, and users with garage
account that never logged to test.maemo.org can't login to the current
maemo.org.

A case to test as well are users creating a new account in garage, being able
to log to maemo.org or not.

Pupnik just reported on IRC:
> <pupnik> created new account on maemo.org - that led me to the garage account
> creation page
> <pupnik> login with new account on garage works. login with new account on
> maemo.org does not work

works for me now, thanks.

I created a new user on garage (bela) and while he can log in to garage, he can
not log in to maemo.org.

I tried again after about an hour and now the login to maemo.org works. I
assume that the account syncronization just takes time. I propose to make the
account syncronization real-time or tell the new users in big bold letters that
it takes some time and try again later.
Comment 12 Ferenc Szekely maemo.org 2007-05-11 14:56:12 UTC
It has been fixed yesterday. Replication would take about 30 minutes at most. I
can add a sentence on this in the email that is sent to new garage users.

Quim, would you like to document this fact on the site somewhere?
Comment 13 Quim Gil nokia 2007-05-11 15:55:52 UTC
Yes, let's add that big warning message when a new user registers. I believe
this lag is due to cron jobs? Other reason? The more we can minimize the time
the better, specially consider that a good percentage of users will create an
account to edit a wiki page.

Wait half an hour for that could be too much for too many (reasonably).

But this is not a bug anymore, so great one thing less.

Thank you!

Ferenc, can you please send an email to maemo-developers announcing the bug
fix? Thanks again.

I created new account to garage today 3h ago and I can't log in with it to
maemo.org. Login-box just jumps up again and again.

Confirming, it's borken again for me too: I can't login anymore.

The bug is not fixed at least for me. I still can't login.

Same here, reopening again. Ferenc: if you have trouble reproducing this, let
us know...

Just to make sure we're on the same page here, this is the situation: I have
been unable to authenticate on https://maemo.org for at least 6 days now, this
is not an intermittent problem, but a chronic one. The only time I have been
able to authenticate was for a few days during this month (see my earlier
post).
Comment 18 Ferenc Szekely maemo.org 2007-05-23 16:20:14 UTC
Thanks Jussi for the update.
Rambo, could you please check why Jussi can't login still?

Well, it's working for me this morning. Either someone did something (thanks,
someone), or I was wrong about this being intermittent.

I'm not resolving just yet, since this bug seems to be prone to reopening...
Comment 20 Marcell Lengyel maemo.org 2007-06-05 15:31:34 UTC
No complaints for almost two weeks, I assumes this can be closed now.
Comment 21 Quim Gil nokia 2007-06-07 06:37:16 UTC
After a period of silence we have got two reports of this issue in the last

I need to know the usernames in question.

For some reason (stuck cron ?) the sync script hadn't been run since
20060701T1732, after manual run users created and replicated ok, cron restarted
and verified to work with date ticker.
