SOFTWARE VERSION: (Settings > General > About product) Maemo5 20.2010.36-2 EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM: (Explain in detail what you do (e.g. tap on OK) and what you see (e.g. message Connection Failed appears)) 1. You get/write sms 2. Close the conversation box 3. Open it on new sms EXPECTED OUTCOME: To se the whole history ACTUAL OUTCOME: The history i had on pr1.2 + last one. all the new messages in between new one and old history are gone (includes outcoming and incoming) REPRODUCIBILITY: always EXTRA SOFTWARE INSTALLED: just flashed - still didn't recovered from backup, so assume nothing. OTHER COMMENTS: major or even critical bug (read on forum that i'm not the only one) and i hope it would be fixed separately and we wouldn't need to wait for new pr1.4 update(that probably would never come) for the fix. as it doesn't make the main purpose of phone. Hi, (In reply to comment #0) > 1. You get/write sms > 2. Close the conversation box > 3. Open it on new sms I don't get these steps. Can you please split them into exact steps, click by click? > ACTUAL OUTCOME: > The history i had on pr1.2 + last one. all the new messages in between new one > and old history are gone (includes outcoming and incoming) So everytime you get a new message the messages that you had received between the newest message and the messages that you still have from PR1.2 vanish? > EXTRA SOFTWARE INSTALLED: > just flashed - still didn't recovered from backup, so assume nothing. Flashed or updated via On-The-Air update? > OTHER COMMENTS: > read on forum that i'm not the only one Link welcome.
1)when i get sms i open conversation box, read the message, answer and close it 2)i get new message, so i open conversation box again but when i open it second time the message i got and the message i sent in step 1 is not there anymore, only the newest and some of the messages from the day before update. next time i get one more message, the message from step 2 is missing and only newest message. Anyway it's like overwritting last messages with the newest ones in conversation box history. >Flashed or updated via On-The-Air update? as i wrote - fresh flash, used global img from tablet-dev and flashing tool under linux(gentoo x64), as used before to flash to pr1.2 >Links http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=850777&postcount=297 http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=850677&postcount=263
What is the output of "df -h" in a terminal?
As well as sent messages doesn't disappear always, cause sometimes they have "sending icon" while it was sent and replied already =\ >What is the output of "df -h" in a terminal? none of the folders is used more than 70% (except SSD card, that i assume is irelivant) as well after reboot some of incoming sms's are showed but mixed by date order and my sms are still masked as "sending"
Can you please provide a syslog? See http://wiki.maemo.org/Documentation/devtools/maemo5/syslog and http://wiki.maemo.org/Documentation/devtools/maemo5#Installation for more information. If you are not used to Linux, after creating the syslog file you can copy the syslog file to those folders that are visible in the Maemo File Manager by: * Starting X Terminal * cp /var/log/syslog /home/user/MyDocs/.documents/ After that you can find the file in the Maemo File Manager by going to Nokia N900 > Documents.
Created an attachment (id=3132) [details] syslog by request here it goes
Got the same problem with mine. I had to clean my Inbox history and reboot to get my incoming SMS. Sending will stay in the inbox though the message is sent but it still trying to send again and again. I cleaned the inbox a few more times and reboot, after a few reboots later the Conversations seems to be sending and receiving messages. This happened with OTA udpate from PR1.2
(In reply to comment #6) > syslog by request Syslog is just from a reboot, I think we need a syslog covering the time when it happens that you receive a new SMS and do the steps that you described...
actually it was after i do got sms and sent one, today i got sms's but they didn't disappear (made several reboots yesterday and deleted all sms's marked as sending), so i can send, but it wouldn't help i suppose till i sent one while i do have problems. will wait till i get this bug againg
I wonder if http://maemo.org/community/maemo-users/re-pr_1-2_update_and_messaging-001/ is related. Also see bug 10418 which was about version 10.2010.19-1 (and has not been fixed by Nokia yet). Also see bug 11456.
i think the source of problem is the same, but the bugs little bit different (just talked about it on irc chan of maemo). as well yesterday after one of reboots when i tried to enter conversation box (as my was marked as sending for a long time) got notification (system one) - sending failed and the box was empty, reboot solved it and got history again. some of the sms that i didn't see before re-appered but the not really sorted by date. screenshot: http://i53.tinypic.com/1r2as1.png
Can everybody having this problem please try the workaround described in bug 11456 comment 15 and report back? Thanks!
*** This bug has been confirmed by popular vote. ***
New thread was made, where i asked everyone having the problem to provide as many info as they can. For now i didn't get this bug anymore(maybe it can influence only after reflash the same day or maybe after restore from backup made in pr1.2)
(In reply to comment #14) > New thread was made URLs please, always, for the sake of transparency... Plus question in comment 12 still stands. :)
(In reply to comment #15) > (In reply to comment #14) > > New thread was made > > URLs please, always, for the sake of transparency... Lol, searched for thread to paste the url and forgot to do it, sorry, made it from work, was little bit busy http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=855090#post855090 > Plus question in comment 12 still stands. :) > Tryed to delete it, but some messages are not sorted by date (only several that i got in time i had main bug of dissapearing sms's) as well i don't have any problems now, as i said it probably only was right after re-flash to PR1.3, so can't say anything about it. I'm trying people from forum to help and fill info
Created an attachment (id=3143) [details] the log while error hmmmm, happened to me again, marked one message as still sending and it's last in the list, though the answer to it is displayed before (that means it was sent) and several new messages disappeared. happened after i synced with ovi suit via usb (windows 7) i will apply the log of today as you asked me
I'm also able to experience this. This also applies to IMs as well. Furthermore, I have verified on my side that /home/user/.rtcom-eventlogger/el-v1.db is not updated.
Interesting... not sure if it's related, but... While my system was locked up (via bug <a href="https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9150">9150</a>) I got a couple text messages. After the reboot, this bug started happening. I used Glogger to archive my messages, then used the solution from reply #12 here, rebooted and it's now fixed. But now I only have my text archive in Glogger, not in converstaions. (Thank goodness for Glogger, or I'd have no archive.) Could the one bug be causing the other? Race condition? Did the log format change again in PR1.3, or is it using the same schema from 1.2?
Please see comment 12 and answer it.
(In reply to comment #20) > Please see comment 12 and answer it. > as i said, tried it, didn't help. after several reboots the bug disappear, but one of the future rebbots can bring it back, as syncing the contacs with OVI suit brought it back as well
Created an attachment (id=3193) [details] mix of messages that should have been deleted and incoming and outgoing calls A screenshot of the Conversations inbox. The files shows IM messages that should have been deleted but still remains. It also shows SMS that was supposedly deleted. Also displayed in the inbox is the outgoing and incoming calls. One is to a land line, another to a mobile number.
