Description fabrice (reporter) 2010-08-20 01:24:36 UTC
SOFTWARE VERSION:
10.2010.19-1 (PR1.2 on n900)

EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM:
1. Install a .desktop file in /home/user/.local/share/applications/hildon
2. It appears in the application grid, is launchable
3. Try to add it as a desktop shortcut

EXPECTED OUTCOME:
The application should be listed in the shortcut list, and added to the desktop

ACTUAL OUTCOME:
The application does not appear in the shortcut list.

REPRODUCIBILITY:
always

OTHER COMMENTS:
It looks like the /home/user/.config/menus/hildon.menu file is not used to
generate the shortcut list.

Hi,

(Directory is empty by default.)

> The application does not appear in the shortcut list.

That implies it is listed in the application menu list at least? That would
mean that /home/user/.local/share/applications/hildon is read at least.
Does it work if you drop the .desktop file in /usr/share/applications/hildon ?

Yes it is

Yes, but you need root privileges to do that...

Installing applications technically requires root access for them anyway so I
think there are small chances to get this fixed, but let's see...
