Thanks for reporting this, but unfortunately this report isn't very useful
because it doesn't describe the issue well. If you have time and can still
reproduce the problem, please read
https://bugs.maemo.org/page.cgi?id=bug-writing.html and add a more useful
description to this bug.
Also please always use the bug template and fill out all of its fields.
Comment 2 Danny (reporter) 2010-05-29 18:34:41 UTC
every time i use the gps on my n900 either in the ovi maps application or the
ovi maps widget the possition is not accurate to 700 meters approx. without
fail this is the case every time. how can this be fixed?
Comment 3 Andre Klapper maemo.org 2010-05-29 18:55:57 UTC
Again: Please use the bug template and fill out all fields, plus provide more
specific information. Currently it's too vague to investigate, or try to
reproduce.
Comment 4 Danny (reporter) 2010-05-29 19:44:54 UTC
gps is not accurate to within 700 meters on my n900. the device never reaches
fine accuracy is always on coarse accuracy. both ovi maps and maep both show
incorrect possition. used to work ok but now my gps is letting the device down.
check out the thread http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=54449

my location settings are still the default setting supplied with the phone
Comment 5 Andre Klapper maemo.org 2010-05-29 21:18:07 UTC
Please copy relevant information here, e.g. settings, provider, etc
Comment 6 Andre Klapper maemo.org 2010-06-04 12:31:44 UTC
...and please fill out the bug template in comment 0.
Otherwise it will be impossible to handle this and it ends up as WORKSFORME.

I am not that familiar with bugzilla, but I can confirm that I am encountering
the same problem. This seems widespread, see
https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9203 .

SOFTWARE VERSION:
10.2010.19-1.002

EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM:
1. I can confirm that location on ovi maps is out by 600-700 meters, in both
maps app and the widget. Over the past few days I tried it and it usually shows
a position I was in a while ago, doesn't seem to update (but when I am walking,
it is sometimes correct). A similar problem occurs with Google Maps (but
interestingly, the location is different - again, approx. 700 meters but not
the same as ovi).

I just installed mapper and it does seem to help.

Changing between supl.google and supl.nokia doesn't seem to make any
difference.

EXPECTED OUTCOME:
Fix the GPS.

ACTUAL OUTCOME:
GPS is rather useless.

REPRODUCIBILITY:
common (8/10)

EXTRA SOFTWARE INSTALLED:
A lot, but I don't recall installing anything recently. I think the GPS was
broken with the new Maemo update...

OTHER COMMENTS:
Let me know if I can provide any other information, if needed, I can provide a
list of all apps installed.

If this is still a problem, about which area is this and which mobile provider?

What are the exact settings in "Settings > Location" ?

Can you take a look at the steps in bug 7026 comment 3 and provide the output?
