Description bulforce (reporter) 2010-05-07 22:21:52 UTC
SOFTWARE VERSION:
(Settings > General > About product)

EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM:
(Explain in detail what you do (e.g. tap on OK) and what you see (e.g. message
Connection Failed appears))
1. added exchange and skype accounts
2. merged contacts
3. delete contact

EXPECTED OUTCOME:
contact to be deleted.
ACTUAL OUTCOME:
contact not deleted

REPRODUCIBILITY:
(always, less than 1/10, 5/10, 9/10)
one particular contact (so far)
EXTRA SOFTWARE INSTALLED:

OTHER COMMENTS:
The contact I am trying to delete has two phones listed in skype. Those phones
cannot be edited in any way. The contact itself cannot be deleted. Even if
deleted from skype it still remains in my phonebook.

I have tried all possible situations. even removing the contact from both skype
and exchange. It still remains in contacts.

Is there a software utility that I can use to manually audit the adressbook.db
??

I think that the problem lies in the fact that this contact has added those two
phone numbers in his skype account.

That won't be fixed for Maemo5 - see bug 9855.

> The contact itself cannot be deleted.

What exactly does that mean? Can you provide exact steps (click by click) from
the beginning?

> Even if deleted from skype it still remains in my phonebook.

Again, how do you do this?

And how is this bug related to Exchange (because so far you only described
Skype issues)?

I have read the 9855, its a shame not to correct this as proposed by the
reporter(just ignore that extra information coming from skype, at least for
now)
Maemo/N900 has truly unique approach to contacts and the way we communicate.
Its very sad that this kind of little issues can give the user a moments of bad
emotions.

The exact steps are above. Anyway here are they again:
1. Blank phone (no contacts whatsoever)
2. Added exchange account (imported some 200 contacts)
3. Added skype account (added another 100 contacts)
4. Merged the matching contacts (end up with something around 240 contacts)
5. Noticed that one of those contacts has two times the same cell phone (one
from exchange sync and one from skype)
6. Click delete fields... but there was only one cell phone available to delete
(the one from exchange, apparently)
7. Decided to start over and tried to delete the contact, but couldn't after
clicking delete, I was taken to the list of contacts but this contact was
always there.
8. I deleted the contact from my contacts(on my pc) in outlook and also deleted
it my skype program(on my pc)
9. Resync the phone, but the contact was still there
10. Ended up flashing the firmware and the mmc.

I dont know is it really related to exchange, just in my case the contact was a
merge between exchange and skype.
