Description Jack Tanner (reporter) 2010-05-07 06:50:12 UTC
SOFTWARE VERSION:
(Settings > General > About product)

5.0 3.2010.02-8

EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM:
(Explain in detail what you do (e.g. tap on OK) and what you see (e.g. message
Connection Failed appears))
1. Open a few apps that can generate yellow notification banners.
2. Switch to any one.

EXPECTED OUTCOME:

Originating application should be clear from the banner.

ACTUAL OUTCOME:

When the notification comes up, you'll have to guess what application sent it,
especially if it's worded in a generic manner.

REPRODUCIBILITY:
always

While I generally agree, the problem with this bug report is that it is not
specific enough for a bug report.
Basically you ask for a review of *all* strings and that's nearly impossible.
If you have specific cases of vague error messages they are welcome (though
string changes in Maemo5 are very unlikely at this point of development).

No, I'm not asking for a review of all strings. There are many ways to fix
this. For example, the originating application name can be automatically
prepended to all notifications. Or the banners could contain the application's
icon. Or...

In any case, this may be relevant to Harmattan.

In all cases this might create problems with horizontal space.
For Harmattan it might be an option, but better suited in maemo.org Brainstorm
at http://maemo.org/community/brainstorm/ .
