Bug 4058

Summary: Vertical lists are not scrolled properly
Product: [Extras] Canola Reporter: luarvique
Component: UIAssignee: Eduardo Lima (Etrunko) <eblima>
Status: UNCONFIRMED QA Contact: general-bugs
Severity: enhancement
Priority: Medium
Version: 2.0~beta9
Target Milestone: ---
Hardware: ARM
OS: Maemo

Description luarvique (reporter) 2009-01-30 01:04:08 UTC
SOFTWARE VERSION:
5.2008.43-7

STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM:
Run Canola. Get to a screen with the large vertical list. Try scrolling through
the list by starting stylus drag from the very top or very bottom of the
screen.

EXPECTED OUTCOME:
The list should scroll, kinetically.

ACTUAL OUTCOME:
The list does not scroll, the item where you end the drag gets selected
instead.

REPRODUCIBILITY:
always

OTHER COMMENTS:
The problem occurs because the display areas along the top and bottom screen
edges are not considered to be part of the list and thus can't be used to
initiate scrolling. Unfortunately, this fact is not clearly denoted by the
default theme (or other themes, for this matter). Also, even if the actual list
area were shown to the user, it is more natural to allow scrolling on ANY quick
vertical drag, not just the one starting in the list area, as only ONE
kinetically scrolled list is presented to the user.
