maemo.org Bugzilla – Bug 11798
agps no longer works due to server changes

SOFTWARE VERSION: (Settings > General > About product) 5.2008.43-7 EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM: (Explain in detail what you do (e.g. tap on OK) and what you see (e.g. message Connection Failed appears)) 1. Start agps-ui 2. Menu -> Info 3. Click "Update cache now" EXPECTED OUTCOME: Cache is updated. Cache refreshed date changes to current time, acquiring gps lock is fast(er). ACTUAL OUTCOME: Cache is not refreshed. Achieving GPS lock is very difficult. OTHER COMMENTS: At some point Nokia changed the supl.nokia.com to a pool of servers, based on geodns. Some of the servers offered work with supld/supllistenerd, others do not. For me, supl.nokia.com (which the agps connects to) resolves to 83.150.75.211, which does not work (as described above). Example of a working server is 66.35.236.25. It is unclear whether this is a bug of agps, or whether it's a server bug. In any case, it'd be nice if things didn't suddenly stop working :-)
I have no idea who maintained and if anybody still maintains agps-ui 0.12-1beta... Quim, any idea?
agps-ui for N810 is currently not maintained, sorry.
Who maintains the servers then? Would it be possible to ensure that all servers in the pool support supld/supllistenerd? Is there a workaround so those of us affected can switch to a server that works?

Found a workaround myself. Gconf to the rescue :) The address supl.nokia.com is stored at two locations in the gconf tree: $ gconftool --get /system/osso/supl/agps_srv_address supl.nokia.com $ gconftool --get /system/osso/supl/slp_address supl.nokia.com Can be changed to a working server: $ gconftool --type string --set /system/osso/supl/agps_srv_address "66.35.236.25" $ gconftool --type string --set /system/osso/supl/slp_address "66.35.236.25" Now agps-ui works as expected.
